Debora “Debbie” Joann Beeny, age 64, of Paducah, KY, passed away peacefully in her home in the presence of her loving family on October 30, 2026.
Debbie was a loving mother, wife, daughter, granddaughter, aunt, mother-in-law, and a friend to so many. She loved her family with her whole heart and made her home a warm place of love and joy. She always made sure that those she loved were taken care of before herself and put the needs and wants of others before her own. She would not hesitate to serve others and was a person that once you met her, you loved her. There are truly not enough words that could describe her and the way she loved others.
She served as the youth director at Fountain Avenue United Methodist Church for 25 years and was a dedicated and very active member there. She organized countless youth events, helped with church community breakfasts, worked in the RC Wagon at the annual Street Fair, and served her church in any way possible all so she could make Christ known and be His hands and feet. She had just begun her tenth year as a Kindergarten Aide at Clark Elementary School, and prior to that was a teacher at First Christian Preschool. She also loved being a Paducah Tilghman band mom, a love that followed her when her son went to the University of Louisville and became a band director himself.
She is survived by her dedicated and loving husband of 30 years, Jeff; one son Nicholas (Cassady) Beeny of Louisville; three brothers, Andy (Lynn, her college best friend whom she set up with Andy) Thompson of Memphis, TN, Joe (Patty) Thompson of Buckner, KY, and John (Amy) Thompson of Mayfield, KY, several cousins and her beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother Marilyn Long Thompson; her grandmother, Marjorie Long; and her father, Ronald Thompson.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Fountain Avenue United Methodist Church with Rev. Eddie Smith officiating.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 11:00 AM until the service hour of 1:00 PM at Fountain Avenue Methodist Church.
