Cathy Sasseen Yates

Cathy Sasseen Yates, 69, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at her residence

She was born in Cairo, Illinois, on May 1, 1957, to the late Edwin Sasseen and Zelma Sutterfield Sasseen. Cathy was a member of Lone Oak Baptist church for the last 20 years and West End Baptist Church for 49 years prior. She was a graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School and Draughn’s Business College.
 
Cathy was a loving mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was an active member of her church, volunteering with the youth group and various other roles until her health forced her to take a step back. Cathy enjoyed crochet and other crafts. She was a true lover of animals and always had one or more dogs as her “fur babies”.
 
She is survived by her two sons, Christopher Yates of Paducah, Kentucky, and Sam Yates of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; granddaughters, Khaleesi and Ruby Yates, both of Paducah, Kentucky; sister, Denise (Kenny) Reineking of Paducah, Kentucky; brother, Bobby (Mariellen) Sasseen of Nashville, Tennessee.
 
Cathy was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Phillip Allan Yates, and her parents.
 
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
