Archie Smith Clapp, 94, was born on January 17, 1932, in Giles County, Tennessee, and passed away on April 19, 2026, in Paducah, Kentucky, lived a long and meaningful life marked by faith, warmth, and a deep love for the people around her.
She was a devoted and longtime member of Symsonia Methodist Church, where her presence was felt in many ways over the years. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she found great joy in being involved with her church family. She loved her church dearly and remained committed to it through the seasons of her life. Archie was known as a true social butterfly, someone who enjoyed being around others and who brought energy and kindness into every gathering. She had a gift for making people feel welcome and valued. Music held a special place in her heart, especially gospel music. She found comfort and joy in the songs of faith, and that love of music reflected the spirit with which she lived her life. She also took great pride in arranging floral arrangements for the church, using her care and creativity to help make the sanctuary beautiful. Her efforts were appreciated by many and stood as another example of the quiet, faithful ways she served her church community.
Archie is survived by two daughters, Cindy Nelson of Symsonia, Kentucky, and Candy (Tony) Powers of Heath, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Erin (Brent) Powell, Darcy Powers, and Darren Powers; three great-grandchildren, Evie Powell, Dalton Powell, and Dax Powell; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, W.C. Clapp; a son, Shane C. Clapp; a grandchild, Christian Nelson; two sisters, Nannie Lee Reeder and Mary Lewter; five brothers, R.T. Smith, Dewey Smith, Henry Smith, Chris Smith, and Austin Smith; and her parents, Joe Smith and Eva Austin Smith.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Bro. Mike Farmer and Bro. Chris May officiating. Burial will follow at Symsonia Cemetery in Graves County, Kentucky.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the service hour of 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
