Lana Shelby Lester, 86, of Kevil, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home on Thursday, July 30, 2026.
Lana will be lovingly remembered by her devoted daughter, Sonya (Ryan) Jackson of Kevil, Kentucky, and her cherished granddaughter, Shelby-Jo (Mason) Heine of Kevil, Kentucky. She also leaves behind dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Sadie Shelby; her beloved husband, Elmo Lester; her brother, Richard Glenn Shelby; and her sister, Sara Jean Vaughn.
Although her given name was Lana, she was lovingly known as "Nana" to those who knew and loved her. That name reflected the warmth, love, and care she shared so generously throughout her life. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for her family touched the lives of all who knew her. The memories she created and the love she shared will remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
She will be remembered for her creative spirit, kind heart, and love of life's simple joys. An avid University of Kentucky basketball fan, she rarely missed cheering on the Wildcats. She found happiness traveling to tropical beaches, where the sun and ocean brought her peace. A talented and crafty artist, she expressed her creativity through countless handmade treasures. Her love for animals was evident throughout her life, and among those who will miss her most is her beloved dog, Ringo, her cherished fur baby.
In accordance with her wishes, a private celebration of life will be held by her family at a later date on Honeymoon Island. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Lindsey Funeral Home.
