Tommy Coursey, 89, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.
Tommy was born in Calvert City, Kentucky, on November 12, 1936, to the late Duard Thomas Coursey and Claudine Littlejohn Coursey.
Known for being a hardworking man, Tommy believed in taking pride in everything he did, regardless of whether it was big or small. He spent many years working in Maintenance for Air Products in Calvert City, where he dedicated himself for many years before retiring. He was a long-time member of Zion's Cause Baptist Church, where he enjoyed sharing his big hugs with the members of the church and was known for always handing out candy to others in passing.
Tommy had many hobbies and a strong love for the outdoors. He enjoyed spending time and bird hunting, particularly quail hunting. He was an avid UK Basketball and NASCAR fan and always enjoyed relaxing and watching the game or race on TV whenever he could. Throughout his life, Tommy was always passionate about cars, a trait that he eventually passed down to his family members. Known for always having a meticulously clean vehicle, he made sure his car was spotless before he left the house and as soon as he returned, and ensured he would never be seen driving a dirty vehicle. Even recently, you could often find Tommy shining up his black 1988 Chevy Truck or taking it out for a drive.
More than anything else, Tommy loved his entire family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. He lived a life led by faith, driven by hard work and dedication, overflowing with the love and kindness he shared with everyone he encountered.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn Baldree Coursey; his two sons, Mike Coursey (Rhonda) of Benton, Kentucky and Mitch Coursey (Kelly) of Tampa, Florida; four grandchildren, Blake Coursey (Marisha), Leah Randolph (Jason), Taylor Coursey, and Clara Coursey; and four great-grandchildren, Dylan Coursey, Landry Coursey, Jensen Randolph, and Isla Randolph.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Glenda Maddox; his brother, Larry Coursey; and his parents, Duard Thomas Coursey and Claudine Littlejohn Coursey.
