Teresa Baize Reed, 67, of Hardin, Kentucky, passed away on June 2, 2026, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.

Teresa was born in Murray, Kentucky, on July 27, 1958, to the late James Earl Baize and June Birdsong Baize. Teresa was raised with the values of hard work, kindness, and compassion for helping others. She lived a life full of love, faith, and joy, and she leaves behind a positive impact on the lives of her family, friends, and many children throughout the years.

Having been raised in Marshall County, Teresa attended Marshall County High School. Years after graduating from high school, Teresa followed her passion for working with children and began her career in early childhood education. For nearly 30 years, she served as a teacher and director of a preschool, where her dedication and compassion to helping educate and develop children was undoubtedly felt by the countless children whose lives she touched. Often referred to as “Mrs. TT”, the children she helped teach adored her and always looked forward to spending time with her. Teresa also served as a former President and Vice-President and current board member for the West Kentucky Association for Early Childhood Education. In April 2026, Teresa received the Nancy Lovett Spirit/Award of Excellence for Time and Dedication to Early Childhood Education.

Outside of work, Teresa had several hobbies that she enjoyed doing to pass the time. She was an avid rock collector and loved searching for a wide variety of unique rocks and stones with her friends and family. Traveling and taking trips was another activity she always enjoyed, with one of her favorite destinations being Gulf Shores. Teresa also enjoyed loading up the car to spend time with her friends and family, to go thrifting, and searching for the best deals. More than anything else, Teresa loved her entire family deeply, and especially loved spending time watching after all of her grandbabies.

Teresa is survived by her husband of 34 years, John Reed of Hardin; three daughters, Marla Reed of Murray, Autumn Reed (Justin Keane) of House Springs, Missouri, and Sarah Girth of Murray; one son, Adam Girth of Hardin; her six grandchildren, Carl Girth and Jacob Girth of Murray, Alora Girth and Alexander Girth of Hardin, and Julia Keane and Jade Keane of House Springs, Missouri; and her mother-in-law and father-in law, Linda Reed and Lowell Reed of Mayfield.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Shelia Baize Scheffler; and her parents, James and June Baize.
