Norma L. Nelson, 94, of Symsonia, Kentucky, entered her eternal home on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

Norma was a second-grade teacher for twenty years at Symsonia Elementary School, until her retirement. She was a member of Oak Level United Methodist Church. Those who knew her will remember her as one to never sit idle. She always had a project going, which was usually centered around quilting and sewing things for others. One of the many ways Norma served others was by making and gifting over 300 baby blankets to local pregnancy crisis centers. She also enjoyed traveling, gardening, and bird watching.

She is survived by her children, Hal (June) Nelson of Symsonia, Teresa (Bill) Crowder of Hickory, Kentucky, and Tim (Jeanie) Nelson of Paducah, Kentucky; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Nelson; one granddaughter; four sisters; five brothers; and her parents George and Pearl Jarvis.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; in lieu of flowers.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann, 1003 Poplar Street, Benton, KY 42025.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Marshall County Memory Gardens in Benton.
