Sue Watkins

Sue Watkins, 94, of Benton, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at Marshall County Hospital.

She was born on Sunday, September 13, 1931 in Marshall County, KY. Sue was a faithful member of Hamlet Baptist Church. She used what she learned from Christ and led her children to Him. Sue was a Marshall County Homemaker in 1955. Up until retirement, she worked as a cook for Marshall County Schools. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sue could work circles around you, whether it was cooking, flipping houses, or bowling a perfect game.

Sue is survived by her daughter, Melonie Chambers (Brien) of Benton; one son, Benny Watkins (Cindy Kay) of Benton; five grandchildren, Cassie Powell (Dustin), Kayla Nelson, Callie Layton (Chris), Karly Sturm (Ryan), and Chase Chambers (Lexie); as well as seven great grandchildren, Odin and Olivia Powell, Zayne Nelson, Kit and Jack Layton, Jadelyn Wilson, and Nellie Sturm.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William "Bill" Watkins; her stepfather, Clarence Houser; her mother, Lola Henson Houser; and her half-brother, Joel Allen.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2026. Rev. Glenn Cope will be officiating. Burial will follow at Hamlet Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
