Opal Smith Crowell

Opal Smith Crowell, 94, formerly of Murray, KY, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at the home of her daughter in Elizabethtown, KY.  
 
At the time of her death, Mrs. Opal was the oldest living member of New Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in New Concord, KY.  After moving to Elizabethtown, she attended Northside Baptist Church. 
 
Mrs. Opal was a much-loved friend and neighbor and a friend to all the children in her neighborhood.  She enjoyed sewing for her girls, hand piecing and quilting beautiful quilts, making apple head dolls, and tending to her yard and flowers.  She could be seen in just the past year deadheading flowers, pulling weeds, and picking up sticks.  
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kelly and Mary Smith of New Concord, KY; her husband and one love, Thomas "Red" Crowell; and her sisters, Lorine Smith and Audrey Mae Hendon. 
 
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Suzette and Mo Moghadamian of Elizabethtown, KY and Kathy and Craig Glaze of Forsyth, GA; and six grandchildren, Eric (Kris Ann) Moghadamian, Brent (Eva) Moghadamian, Lanessa Miller, Leslie Klosterman, Wes Miller, and Thomas Glaze.  Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Avery and Cole Moghadamian; Fox and Pixel Coulon; Elliot Miller; and Thomas, James, and John Klosterman.  She loved and was loved by many extended family members as well.
 
A funeral service will be conducted Monday, May 6, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Blalock-Coleman Funeral Home, with Russell Moss and Rev. Sammy Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow the service in the McCuiston Cemetery, New Concord, KY.   

Friends may visit with the family between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at the Blalock-Coleman Funeral Home, 713 S. 4^th St., Murray, KY.
