A Weakley County man is accused of pouring gasoline on himself, while threatening to kill his children’s mother, and burn the house down.

According to KYTN, the Weakley County Sheriff's Department says just after 5:00 pm on Friday, they were called to a home on Palmersville Highway, where 37-year-old Matthew Thomas Helms had made the threats, while allegedly highly intoxicated.

Deputies say that Helms was taken for a mental evaluation, and then charged with criminal attempt to commit aggravated assault.

In addition, Helms was charged with manufacturing marijuana because of the discovery of marijuana in the home, that he was allegedly growing.

The Sheriff's Department also reports that the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services was notified about the incident.
