According to the USGS, from Friday, November 29 through Monday, December 2, a total of 16 earthquakes hit the area surrounding Ridgely in Lake County.
The majority of the earthquakes ranged from magnitude 1.1 through 1.5, however, two of the 16 reported hit magnitude 2.1.
The area is part of the New Madrid Seismic Zone which is prone to frequent earthquakes, although the majority of the earthquakes go undetected by humans. The USGS says that a magnitude of 2.5 is the threshold of humans being able to detect the ground shaking.
