U.S. District Judge  David Bunning has ordered defiant Rowan County Clerk, Kim Davis-(D), to jail after she refused to issue marriage licenses.  She has been taken into custody, processed and booked into the Carter County, Ky Jail just after 4:30 pm (Paducah time), Thursday, with no bond.

Davis testified for about 20 minutes and was very emotional. She talked about when she became a Christian.

"You can't be separated from something that's in your heart and in your soul,'' she told the judge.

Judge Bunning told Davis she would be jailed until she complied with his order to issue the licenses. Davis said "thank you'' before she was led out of the courtroom by a U.S. marshal. She was not in handcuffs.

After she was jailed, hundreds of people outside the courthouse started chanting and screaming, "Love won! Love won!''

In all, there are three county clerks in Kentucky refusing to issue marriage licenses for the same reason, including Casey County Clerk, Casey Davis, and a third clerk that Governor Beshear has not identified.

Casey Davis, is riding across the state on his bicycle in support of Kim Davis.  Casey Davis is expected to end his bike ride in Paducah by as early as Friday evening.

There are other county clerks in Alabama and Texas that are also refusing to issue licenses based on the same grounds as Kim Davis. She has been the Rowan County Clerk since 2014, and is a registered Democrat.
