Tonight’s estimated $363 million Mega Millions jackpot is the sixth-largest jackpot in the history of the game.  The cash option for the estimated $363 million jackpot is $244.6 million, according to Kentucky Lottery Officials.  The largest jackpot was $656 million won on March 30, 2012.

Kentucky Lottery officials are quick to point out that players need to play responsibly, saying: "The Kentucky Lottery is reminding everyone to PLAY RESPONSIBLY!  We encourage responsible play and our players NOT to spend more than they can afford.  Keep it in perspective because the odds of winning the MEGA MILLIONSâ jackpot are very high, about one in 259 million."

Players pick five white balls and one Mega Ball when filling out a play slip or they can choose the Quick Pick option where the computer chooses their numbers.  There are nine ways to win, according to Mega Millions:

Match 5 + Mega Ball = $363 Million
Match 5 + No Match = $1,000,000
Match 4 + Mega Ball = $5,000
Match 4 + No Match = $500
Match 3 + Mega Ball = $50
Match 3 + No Match = $5
Match 2 + Mega Ball = $5
Match 1 + Mega Ball = $2
No Match + Mega Ball = $1

Lottery officials say if a player chooses to take the annuity payment, it would be paid out with one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments, each payment 5% larger than the previous one.

Tickets for tonight’s drawing can be purchased at any of the Kentucky Lottery’s retailers and cost a buck.  The drawings take place at 9:58 pm, Paducah time, on Tuesdays and Fridays.  Mega Millions is played in 44 states plus the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands.
