The Kentucky Republican has long advocated for the repeal of President Barack Obama's health care law. He said Monday that it's "crashing" under the weight of rising premiums and the loss of big insurers.
Speaking at a Kentucky Chamber of Commerce event in Louisville, McConnell said the health care law "can't possibly go on like it is."
He says the extent of changes will depend on the outcome of the November election.
The 2010 law passed Congress without a single Republican vote. McConnell says it has produced higher premiums and "chaos" in the private health insurance market.
