The Kentucky Agriculture Department reports National Agricultural Statistics Service information shows $5.6 billion in farm cash receipts in 2013 statewide. Total receipts were up more than 16 percent over 2012's total of $4.8 billion.
The most growth was in soybeans, with farm sales of just over $1 billion, a 45 percent increase from 2012.
Poultry and eggs were again the state's top agricultural commodity in 2013 with farm sales of $1.2 billion, 15 percent more than the 2012 total.
Sales of cattle and calves were $836 million, corn was $766 million, tobacco was $404 million and horses and mules totaled $392 million.
The report said cash receipts were balanced between crops and livestock.
