A Kentucky Republican has introduced a bill that would lessen penalties for marijuana possession.

Senator Jimmy Higdon, A Lebanon Republican, sponsored Senate Bill 82, which would make the penalty for possessing marijuana for personal use only a prepayable non-criminal fine.

Violators would face a $100 fine or serve 15 hours of community service.

Possessing more than an ounce of weed would be considered a Class B misdemeanor.

The bill also exempts marijuana accessories from drug paraphernalia criminal penalties.
