Bootheel man's body recovered along Mississippi River in Arkansas

The body of a missing man from Missouri was recovered in Arkansas after several days of searching along the Mississippi River.

The New Madrid Police Department said the search for Bruce Shockley was terminated after his body was recovered Saturday in Mississippi County, Arkansas.

Authorities said multiple agencies started the search for Shockley on Tuesday after he went out on the Mississippi River just south of New Madrid. According to police, the harbor service found a boat floating without anyone onboard and then found a truck with a trailer at the boat ramp. They were traced back to Shockley.

An autopsy is scheduled for this week in Little Rock.
