According to Barkley Field meteorologists, a rainy Saturday may become a snowy Sunday, then a bitterly cold Monday.

In a special weather statement Wednesday morning, the National Weather Service office in Paducah says rain on Thursday will pause on Friday, but begin again that night and into Saturday.

Blustery thunderstorms and temperatures in the 50s will continue all day Saturday. Winds will gust over 20 mph on Saturday, and more than 30 mph Saturday night. Total rainfall from Friday night and Saturday could be between 1-2 inches, and will fall on already saturated ground, so some flooding issues could arise.

Late Saturday night, cold air will sweep in and could change the rain to snow before clearing out Sunday morning. Any rain or snow on roads will likely freeze, so drivers should use caution late Saturday and early Sunday.

Gusty winds will continue Sunday with a high around 30 degrees, and a wind chill in the teens.

By Monday morning, wind chills will plummet to the single digits as gusts over 25 mph continue.

Sunshine on Monday will help the high creep just above freezing.

More rain mixed with snow is possible Tuesday, but with temperatures reaching the mid 40s.
