The second Walk it Out Pink, a non-competitive walk/run in downtown Mayfield to recognize breast cancer survivors and those touched by breast cancer, will be held in October, which is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Urban Artsy will again kick off its two-mile event on Saturday, Oct. 17, on the Graves County Courthouse north lawn at 9 a.m. Registration will be held at 8 a.m. Pre-registration is $20. Forms are available at Urban Artsy, 403 S. 6th St., in Mayfield.

Proceeds from the event will support the American Cancer Society's research program aimed at breast cancer. Currently, the American Cancer Society is investing $86 million into breast cancer research and responded to more than 160,000 requests for services from breast cancer patients and caregivers last year.

Efforts focused on new research and helping breast cancer patients have led to a 35 percent reduction in the U.S. breast cancer death rate since 1989 and have resulted in 224,500 lives saved from breast cancer.
