Two Tennessee men are in a local jail after a traffic stop led to their arrests on multiple drug offenses.
According to Kentucky State Police, troopers pulled over a vehicle near the 47 mile marker on Interstate 24 for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, troopers say they found heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana and two types of prescription drugs in the vehicle, and the passenger was reportedly in possession of a fake social security card.
The driver of the vehicle, 39-year-old Esteban Carmona-Hinojosa, and passenger, 21-year-old Rey D. Guzman-Perez, both of Nashville, were arrested and charged with two counts of first degree possession of a controlled substance (for heroin and methamphetamine), trafficking in marijuana, two counts of possession of a legend drug, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Carmona-Hinojosa was also charged with careless driving and not having an operator’s license. Guzman-Perez also faces a charge of second degree possession of a forged instrument.
Both men were taken to Caldwell County Jail.
