Two Arrested for Selling Beer & Drugs in Apartment

MAYFIELD, KY - The Graves County Sheriff’s Office arrested two people Monday night on drug and alcohol charges. According to Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon, a search warrant was conducted at the home of 49-year-old Brenda Burton, of 228 North 5th Street, Apartment No. 8 in Mayfield, after detectives learned that illegal drug and alcohol sales were occurring there.

Detectives located 212 cans of beer and several baggies of marijuana packaged for resale inside the home, along with several items of drug paraphernalia. A small amount of cash, believed to be proceeds of illegal sales of alcohol and marijuana, was also seized.

Burton was charged with illegal possession/sale of alcohol in a dry option territory, trafficking in marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and prescriptions not in the proper container. Fifty-nine-year-old Rodney Thompson of Mayfield was also inside the home during the search warrant. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. Both were lodged in the Graves County Jail.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted during the search warrant by the Mayfield Police Department and Kentucky State Police.
