Truck Fire Slows Morning Traffic Near I-24 Exit 31
By West Kentucky Star Staff
GRAND RIVERS, KY - Traffic was slowed for several hours Thursday morning after a semi and trailer burned on Interstate 24 in Livingston County.

According to Kentucky State Police, troopers received a call at around 12:30 am from the Livingston County Sheriff's Office requesting assistance on I-24 eastbound at Exit 31 at Grand Rivers. Police arrived to find the tractor trailer fully engulfed in flames, along with both trailers it was hauling.

Fire departments on scene were able to extinguish the fire, but the truck's load of cooking oil tried to reignite periodically. Cooking oil also had to be cleaned from the road surface, which kept the eastbound lanes blocked until about 11 am.
