Police in western Kentucky are investigating the fatal shooting of a woman who worked as a counselor in a middle school.
Henderson police told The Gleaner that 39-year-old Michelle Lewis Cotter died early Tuesday after being shot inside the home she shared with her husband.
The Messenger-Inquirer reports she was employed in Daviess County as a guidance counselor at College View Middle School and also worked as a dance instructor for Henderson County Public Schools.
Henderson Police Sgt. John Nevels said her husband, Steven Cotter, who serves as a soccer coach for Henderson County Public Schools, was injured when police took him into custody. He said Steven Cotter has not been arrested.
Nevels said Michelle Cotter's death is being investigated as a possible homicide.
