State Police Investigating Attempted Abduction

State police are searching for a man accused of trying to kidnap a child Sunday near Mayfield.

According to Kentucky State Police, troopers got a call at around 10:30 p.m. about an attempted abduction of a teen girl.

Detectives said their investigation showed a white man in his mid-thirties with black hair and a black goatee was driving a white Kia Soul near Mayfield when he attempted to abduct a girl. Police said she was able to resist and get away from the man. 

Detectives say they are gathering surveillance footage that may have captured the incident. Anyone with information about the crime or location of the suspect is asked to contact KSP Post 1 at 270-856-3721.
