A 17-year-old boy faces attempted murder and tampering with physical evidence charges after a shooting Friday in Mayfield.

According to the Mayfield Police Department, a man called police to report someone had shot at him while he was in his vehicle in the 500 block of West Lee Street. Upon further investigation, police said the juvenile used a rifle to fire multiple rounds at the vehicle, striking it once in the driver's side window.

The man in the vehicle reportedly fired one round back at the juvenile as he fled from the area. A rifle was found in the juvenile's home, which is believed to be the one used during the crime.

The juvenile was arrested and transported to McCracken County Juvenile Detention Center.
