Authorities in Marshall County say someone is trying to capitalize financially on last month's high school shooting that left two students dead and multiple others injured.

The Marshall County Sheriff's Office said they've received complaints about someone calling those in the community trying to sell items "for the kids from the school." According to sheriff's office, the calls were from an 866 number and the caller was a woman with an “Arabian” accent.

The sheriff's office is warning residents to never give money to anyone without doing research and making sure who is asking for money and where it's going.

Anyone who has received a similar call is asked to contact local law enforcement.
