A man arrested last week on rape and sodomy charges was arraigned Tuesday in Fulton County.

According to the Court Clerk, 47-year-old David Garrett of Hickman was arraigned in Fulton County District Court, where he entered a plea of not guilty to three counts of 1st degree rape and sodomy.

Warrants for Garrett's arrest last week indicated he committed the acts against a minor in 2015 and 2016.

Garrett requested to be awarded a public defender, and remains in jail on a $50,000.00 cash bond. His next scheduled court date is May 2.

According to records, Garrett is a lifetime registered sexual offender who transferred from Illinois. His original conviction was for sexual battery in the state of Indiana.

Fulton County Sheriff's Deputies say Garrett was arrested April 5 on a warrant for being a sex offender who used messenger, chatting, or social media. Deputies had previously asked anyone who thinks Garrett may have contacted their child to call them at 270-236-2545.
