According to the Graves County Sheriff's Office, scammers were calling local residents on Tuesday claiming to be from the Graves County Sheriff’s Office. The caller ID on the call back number showed Mayfield, KY 270-356-8170.
Deputies say when you call that number, it goes to a computer prompt with a list of numbers that would direct you to special units within the sheriff's department. At this time, police say no personal identification or money have been given to the scammers.
Deputies say the Graves County Sheriff’s Office does not call residents for personal information, and the number listed is not a working number for their agency. Detectives are investigating the complaints, and they remind residents to never give out personal information over the phone.
