Brady Ray has been denied a new trial.

Ray appeared before Graves Circuit Court Tuesday morning on a motion filed on Ray’s behalf for a new trial and for final sentencing. In November 2018, Ray was convicted of attempted murder, robbery, burglary, wanton endangerment, and violation of a Kentucky emergency protection order/domestic violence order. The jury sentenced him to 65 years.

The defendant’s attorney and the Commonwealth’s Attorney presented oral arguments for and against Ray’s motion for a new trial, but the Court denied Ray’s motion. Karley Holt, Victim’s Advocate, read a statement on behalf of the victim. Ray was then sentenced to 65 years in prison.

Police say Ray broke into the Mayfield home of his estranged wife, Tracy Hargrove, in January 2017 and attacked her with a hammer. Hargrove and a child were able to escape out a bedroom window and run to a neighbor's home to get help.

Ray reportedly chased after them but left. He was arrested the next day in Nashville, TN.
