A Cadiz man was arrested Friday afternoon, after police say he assaulted his neighbor over a property dispute.

At around 4:00 p.m. Friday, Cadiz Police responded to a fight at 33 Cunningham Avenue.

According to police, 45-year-old William West got into an argument with his neighbor, Gary Vetzel.  During this argument, West reportedly took a large chain and struck Vetzel in the head multiple times. West then left the scene at a high rate of speed, almost striking a pedestrian with his vehicle.  He was located a short time later.

After conducting an investigation, Cadiz police arrested West and charged him with Assault - 2nd Degree and Wanton Endangerment - 1st Degree.

Vetzel was taken to Trigg County Hospital and treated for his injuries.

Police said the fight was the culmination of a long property dispute between West and Vetzel, who live next to each other.
