LEDBETTER - A Livingston County teen originally charged with assault in a weekend shooting at a party in Ledbetter now faces a murder charge, after an argument reportedly escalated into deadly violence.

Kentucky State Police say 15-year-old Peyton N. Hurt, of Boaz, died Sunday night at Baptist Health Paducah from injuries sustained in Saturday night's shooting. Police say the 1st degree assault charge against 19-year-old Tyler Jones has been upgraded to 1st degree murder. He was arraigned on that charge in Livingston Circuit Court on Tuesday and his cash bond was set at $1 million.

State police say Jones shot Hurt Saturday night at a party in Ledbetter. Jones was booked into the McCracken County Regional Jail Saturday night, along with 20-year-old Alexis Johnson, of Paducah. She's charged with hindering apprehension. Court dockets show she will be arraigned on Thursday.

West Kentucky Star requested copies of police reports from Saturday, and they show that four witnesses identified Jones as the shooter. Documents also indicate the homeowner was missing a gun, and Jones was reportedly the only one who had access to it.

The police report also says witnesses told State Troopers that Jones and Hurt argued about accusations of him cheating on Johnson, who is his fiance'. Witnesses said Jones was "in a fit of rage and was striking his truck with his fists." He reportedly gave multiple versions of his story to police, none of which matched what witnesses told them.

The police report also indicates alcohol, marijuana and other drugs were reportedly used at the party.
