A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans milling and asphalt paving on a short section of Interstate 24 West in Marshall County on Thursday and Friday.

Westbound drivers are being advised to be prepared to encounter work zone lane restrictions along I-24 between the I-24 Tennessee River Bridge and the US 62 Exit 27 Interchange. The contractor plans to mill and pave the driving lane bridge end connections at the P & L Railroad overpass and the KY 282/Gilbertsville Highway Overpass.

KYTC says the driving lane bridge ends have settled and become rough in recent months, and this project is an effort to smooth them before winter.

Westbound drivers should be prepared to encounter slowing and merging traffic as they approach the 28 mile marker during daylight hours.  All traffic will move to the left-hand or passing lane in this work zone.
