Two Paducah residents were arrested on drug and weapon charges in Graves County Monday morning. According to the Graves County sheriff's office, deputies stopped a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Kayla Young at approximately 1am.

When approaching the vehicle, deputies said they smelled an odor of burnt marijuana and Young appeared to be under the influence. After failing several field sobriety tests, Young was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Young's passenger, 23-year-old Jimmy Kendrick of Paducah, had an outstanding parole violator warrant out of McCracken County for his arrest. He was arrested on the warrant and additionally charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies said they found a knife hidden in the car, along with some methamphetamine and assorted drug paraphernalia. Both Young and Kendrick were lodged in the Graves County Jail.
