A Paducah man died from injuries he received Monday morning in a single-vehicle accident in Christian County.

Kentucky State Police responded to the 11-mile marker on the Pennyrile Parkway near Hopkinsville, just after 6:00 am. They determined that 40-year-old Robert L. Mayhugh of Paducah was driving south when he lost control of his car. The vehicle went into the median, hit a guardrail, became airborne and hit a concrete bridge pier. The vehicle landed on its top in a southbound lane.

Mayhugh was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, and was being flown to Vanderbilt Hospital when he experienced complications. The life flight was diverted to Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville, where Mayhugh died from his injuries.

Troopers say Mayhugh was wearing his seat belt.
