A Paducah man faces felony charges after police say he robbed a Dollar General store employee at gunpoint.

Kentucky State Police, Carlisle Sheriff’s deputies and Bardwell police officers responded shortly after 8:00 pm Wednesday to a report of an armed robbery at the Dollar General store in Bardwell. A short time later, a Bardwell officer stopped a vehicle matching the description of the suspect's vehicle.

The officer reportedly found a handgun on the passenger in the vehicle, 27-year-old Ian Abernathy of Paducah. He was arrested without incident and charged with 1st degree robbery, 3 counts of 1st degree wanton endangerment, public intoxication, possession of an open alcoholic container in a motor vehicle, and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

Abernathy was booked into the Ballard County Jail.
