According to the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, the collision happened shortly after 5 pm on US Hwy 68 East, near the Jonathan Creek Water Department. Deputies say a vehicle, driven by 60-year-old Russell McLeod of Gilbertsville, was traveling west when pooling water on the roadway caused him to lose control.
McLeod's vehicle slid into the oncoming eastbound lane and struck another vehicle, driven by 40-year-old Sarah Knisley, of Benton. Knisley's vehicle overturned and came to rest upside down in a water filled-creek.
Witnesses and bystanders were able to free Knisley, and her nine-year old daughter, Audrey, from the vehicle. Sarah Knisley was transported to Marshall County Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
