If you get pulled over in Graves County this week, it may not be a bad thing. As a way of "paying it forward," the Graves County Sheriff's Office is handing out gift cards instead of speeding tickets.

Sheriff Dewayne Redmon said it's the department's way of saying "thank you" to the people of Graves County for being good citizens. Deputies are handing out gas and food gift cards for things like driving the speed limit, using your turn signals or wearing your seat belt.

Redmon said police departments across the country have been receiving a lot of negative publicity lately, and he wanted to do something to put his department in a more positive light.

Redmon said he paid for the gift cards out of his own pocket.
