NASA is among several groups and organizations set up at the Orchardale Farm for the eclipse. NASA Planetary Scientist Dr. Renee Weber told WKDZ they chose the Hopkinsville area because it is the point of greatest eclipse.
"It's gonna be a great opportunity for us to observe the sun's corona, which is the outer atmosphere of the sun, that is normally too bright to see," Weber
Dr. Weber, whose background is in lunar science, says they would be providing a live feed Monday.
"It's a great chance for us, we've got a telescope that's gonna be hooked up to NASA's live feed tracking totality across the country," Weber said.
She said they arrived Sunday morning and will likely head back to Huntsville Monday afternoon.
Weber is originally from Rochester, New York. She is the Manager of the Heliopyshics and Planetary Science Division at NASAs Marshall Space Flight Center.
