The man suspected of a shooting in Murray has been arrested.

According to the Murray Police Department, the investigation into the shooting, which took place back in February at Welch Court, led to 20-year-old Monyea Williams being a suspect. Police say the warrant for Williams' arrest was issued last week after they followed a network of information that identified him as the man who shot Kendarion Jennings in the parking lot of 51 Welch Court in Murray as Jennings was waiting to leave.

Williams is an active U.S. Military soldier stationed at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. Police say he was visiting Murray on the date that the shooting took place.

Murray Police contacted the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command at Fort Leonard Wood, which then also got the US Marshals involved. US Marshals in Missouri were able to arrest Williams on the base Tuesday, and he is currently in the Pulaski County Jail in Missouri awaiting extradition.

The Kentucky Commonwealth Attorney’s Office has signed for extradition to have Williams brought back to Kentucky to face the charge of 1st degree assault.
