A buzzing issue with mosquitoes has become prevalent in areas surrounding the lakes, Lyon County in particular.

On Friday, Lyon County Judge Executive Wade White reached out to Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture James  Comer. White informed Comer's office about the amount of complaints his office and the health department have received about the swarming insects.

"Its similar to the way it was in 2011 after the flood. I have been outside using insect repellent on myself. They are so thick, they still swarm you pretty bad," White said.

He said Comer's office is going to look at what they can do and contact him Monday with a plan on how to cut the pests' population down.

White said they are going to review what they did in 2011. After contacting the governors office at that time, he recalls forming task force. Within days, planes where flying over, spraying the area. He said any help at this point will be appreciated.
