Mike Miller Park Lights Up Tonight
By West Kentucky Star Staff
MARSHALL COUNTY - The Marshall County Parks Department and Jackson Purchase Energy Corporation are ready to throw the switch tonight for the Christmas in the Park light show at Mike Miller Park.

The display will run each evening through December 30, with the exception of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day when the park will be closed. The light show begins at dusk each night and closes at 10 pm.

The event is free, but monetary donations or donations of canned goods will benefit local non-profit organizations.

Monetary donations will be evenly divided between nine local non-profit organizations, including HOPE Clinic, Marshall County Rescue Squad, Marshall County Special Olympics, Marshall County Caring Needline, Marshall County Veterans Support Group, Marcella's Kitchen, Marshall County Exceptional Center, VFW Post 1084 and Auxiliary, and Cub Scout Pack 2484 and Troop 2484.

This year's light show will also feature Santa's Mailbox and the Spot the Grinch Challenge.

Children of all ages can mail their letters directly to Santa using the magical red mail box, and rest assured that their letters will be received before Christmas. The mailbox is available to the public anytime during normal park hours.

Be on the lookout for the Grinch as you drive through the park; if you spot the Grinch, take a picture and post to Facebook using #TheGrinchatMikeMiller to be entered to win prizes that will be drawn each Friday on the Mike Miller Park Facebook page.

Due to COVID-19, the Marshall County Parks Department is implementing precautionary measures in order to have a safe event. The Grinch will not be interacting with visitors during the light show and the parks department is working on a way to make a safe appearance from Santa possible as well.
