According to the Mayfield Police Department, the collision happened just after 2:30pm on US 45 North. Officers said a van driven by 28-year-old James Newman, of Grand Rivers, was travelling south on US 45.
As Newman approached Construction Drive, a car driven by 19-year-old Emilee Leech of Mayfield, attempted to make a left-hand turn onto US 45. Leech's car was hit in the driver's side door by the front of Newman's van, causing significant damage to both vehicles.
Leech was transported by ambulance to Baptist Health Paducah for treatment of her injuries. Newman sustained minor injuries, but refused medical treatment at the scene.
