A man that escaped police custody early Friday morning was captured Friday afternoon.

According to the Mayfield Police Department, 26-year-old Dustin McReynolds, of Mayfield, was being transported to the Graves County Jail early Friday morning. During the transport, McReynolds kicked out the rear door window of the cruiser, and fled on foot near Megan Drive, still in handcuffs.

At approximately 3:00 pm on Friday, a tip came into the Mayfield Police Department that McReynolds had been seen in front of a home on High Street. Officers arrived, and surrounded the home.

The homeowners gave police permission to search the home. McReynolds was found hiding in the basement, and was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Graves County Jail.

McReynolds was charged with escape, criminal mischief, theft by unlawful taking under $500, possession of drug paraphernalia and trafficking in methamphetamine.
