Investigators have determined that the fire that damaged the Graves County Cracker Barrel earlier this month was accidental.

The fire started around 1:30 am Saturday June 11, and caused extensive damage to the front porch area of the restaurant still under construction. An investigator with the State Fire Marshal’s office said it was an accidental fire, which started in a cardboard bin located by the front door. The bin contained construction debris.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but investigators think the most likely cause was a floor finish material, which is highly flammable, being discarded into the cardboard bin.

Cracker Barrel representatives said the restaurant near Mayfield is still scheduled to open later this summer.
