A Marion woman died Monday night in a crash on US 60 in Crittenden County.

According to Kentucky State Police, the crash happened shortly after 8:30 p.m. near the Livingston County line when 35-year-old Kaysie Yaw of Burna was driving west and attempted to pass another vehicle, driven by 55-year-old Kelly Quertermous of Salem.

Troopers said Yaw swerved in an attempt to avoid oncoming traffic. This caused Quertermous to slam on his brakes and jackknife his pickup, which was pulling a trailer. Yaw's vehicle then struck another vehicle, driven by 27-year-old Makaela Franklin of Marion head-on.

Franklin was pronounced dead at the scene. Yaw was flown to St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana where she was listed in stable condition. Two juvenile passengers in Yaw's vehicle were taken to a local hospital and were later released. Quertermous was uninjured in the crash.

Police say everyone but Franklin were wearing seat belts when the crash happened.
