A man convicted last month in Graves County on assault and burglary charges will spend at least 20 years behind bars.

According to Graves County Commonwealth's Attorney Richie Kemp, Bradley Morris was sentenced Monday to 70 years in prison. He'll be eligible for parole after serving 20 years.

Morris received a three-day jury trial in September and was found guilty of 1st degree assault, 1st degree burglary, tampering with evidence, being a persistent felony offender and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

According to Mayfield Police, on December 6, 2017, Morris shot Kathy Bouland three times at a home on South 9th Street. Kemp says Bouland was Morris' ex-girlfriend, and she was shot in the calf while on the front porch, but ran inside the home. Morris reportedly shot her in the arm as she tried to escape into a bathroom, then shot through the door until his gun was empty, striking Bouland in the knee.

She was taken to a local hospital and then flown to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville for treatment. Morris was arrested at the scene.
