According to Graves County Commonwealth's Attorney Richie Kemp, Bradley Morris received a jury trial this week and was found guilty of 1st degree assault, 1st degree burglary, tampering with evidence, being a persistent felony offender and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
According to Mayfield Police, on December 6, 2017, Morris shot Kathy Bouland three times at a home on South 9th Street. Kemp says Bouland was Morris' ex-girlfriend, and she was shot in the calf while on the front porch, but ran inside the home. Morris reportedly shot her in the arm as she tried to escape into a bathroom, then shot through the door until his gun was empty, striking Bouland in the knee. She was taken to a local hospital and then flown to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville for treatment. Morris was arrested at the scene.
Kemp says Morris will be sentenced on October 15, and could receive a penalty of up to 70 years in prison.
Bouland cooperated with the prosecution and was present at the trial, according to Kemp.
