Man Charged with Taking Hostages at Salem Home

SALEM, KY - A man is in custody after police say he took hostages at home in Salem.
On Saturday, Livingston County Deputies responded to a home on Mill Street in Salem regarding a man who had allegedly violated an emergency protective order. Upon arrival, deputies discovered that the suspect, 26-year-old Ronald Shaw had fled the home on foot when the victim called 911.
Livingston County Sheriff's deputies and the Kentucky State Police, along with the McCracken County Sheriff's K-9 unit searched the immediate area of the home. After some time deputies received a tip that Shaw was in a home on South Hayden Street in Salem, and holding the occupants of that home against their will.
Deputies went into the home and took Shaw into custody after a brief struggle. Shaw was charged with violation of an emergency protective order, two counts of unlawful imprisonment (Felony), burglary 2nd degree (Felony), assault on a police officer (Felony) and resisting arrest. Shaw was also charged on a Crittenden County warrant for robbery and booked into the Crittenden County Jail.
