A two-vehicle accident Friday night in Graves County injured two people, and led to charges against one driver.

According to the Graves County Sheriff's Department, the accident happened just before 9 pm at the intersection of Kentucky Highways 58 and 131. Investigation at the scene determined that a pickup truck driven by 37-year-old Robin D. Tucker of Mayfield was westbound on Highway 58, while a vehicle driven by 16-year-old Julia Shipp of Elizabethtown was at the stop sign on Highway 131. The Sheriff's Department says Shipp pulled onto Highway 58 and her car was struck by Tucker's truck.

Shipp and her passenger, 58-year-old Ruth Heath of Mayfield, were taken to Mayfield Airport by EMS, and were then flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville for treatment of what were called severe injuries.

Tucker was arrested and charged with DUI 3rd offense aggravated and 2 counts of assault 1st degree. More charges are possible.

West Kentucky Star has learned that Heath is the wife of Kentucky Rep. Richard Heath, and Shipp is his granddaughter.
