Lyon County Semi Crash Slows I-24 Traffic

Westbound motorists should continue to use caution at this crash site through the day Friday.

The crash involved a SEMI Rollover with all fuel and hydraulic fluids spilled.

The crash is at the end of the Westbound Weigh station ramp to I-24 Westbound.

The trailer Load of corn meal was spilled and has been contaminated with fuels and oil.

Authorities have determined effective cleanup of products due to location and safety should be conducted during the day on Friday.

Mitigation efforts are in place to lessen environmental impact.

The KYTC Lyon County maintence crew is on scene to maintain the westbound lane restriction to allow removal of CMV and trailer.

Eastbound lanes are both open.


A semi-truck crash on I-24 Westbound near the 36 mile-marker in Lyon County has traffic at a slowdown at this time.

The KYTC Lyon County Highway maintenance crew is working with police to facilitate traffic control to make it possible for traffic to be shifted to the left-hand or passing lane at the crash site to avoid the need for a detour.

Motorists should slow down and use extreme caution due to emergency personnel along the roadway in this area.  Traffic may need to be halted for
a time to recover the truck.

Estimated duration 4 to 5 hours.

For those who want to avoid the area, a detour is established along US 62 between Exit 40 at Eddyville-Kuttawa to KY 453 and/or the US 62 Exit at Calvert City.
